Over the weekend of 15th & 16th October 2022 York Unlocked will unlock the doors to many amazing buildings, old and new, in the beautiful historic City of York. Buildings include Herbert House, De Grey Rooms, The Guildhall, The Old Archbishops Palace, St Williams College, the Chapel (York St John), Bootham School, Monk Bar, and many more.
York Unlocked is based on the successful models created by Open Doors & Open House in England and Scotland 30 years ago. Simply, it is an annual weekend event created to raise public awareness and appreciation of architecture and the built environment of York.
A key feature of the event is the opening up of buildings or bits of buildings that are often not generally accessible to the public, to show the great range of amazing buildings, old and new, that we have in York.
