The Merchant Adventurers’ Hall is one of York’s Medieval Marvels. Set in beautiful gardens in the heart of York, it is open for public use as a fully functioning museum, wedding and hospitality venue and meeting place some 660 years after construction began in 1357. As part of a larger project to redevelop displays and facilities, including the introduction of a dedicated Café space the Hall is building a small but vital team whose aim it will be to provide an excellent visitor experience across the Hall and to develop the Merchants’ Coffee House further. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced and dedicated individuals to shape, influence and deliver a 21st Century welcome in this 14th Century guild hall.   Temporary Part Time Visitor Experience & Café Assistant 3 month temporary contract with possibility to extend.   £8.25 per hour (£7.75 if under the age of 24- in line with national minimum living wage). Minimum of 24 hours per week over 3/4 days including weekends. Working hours will be between 9am to 5pm.   To start as soon as possible.   We are seeking to appoint a Visitor Experience Café Assistant to support the Visitor Welcome and Admissions Desk the Merchants’ Coffee House. The successful candidate will be customer-focused and pro-active in welcoming our visitors and ensuring they have an enjoyable and engaging visit, and will utilise exceptional selling skills to promote and maximise sales of tickets, guidebooks and merchandise. The role will include coffee making, preparing of light lunches, snacks and cakes, operating the till, assisting in the kitchen and maintaining a safe & clean workspace. Working as a team, your role will be integral to the foundation and delivery of a first-rate visitor experience. Experience of working in a café environment is essential.
